We provide
a full range of Orthodontic specialty treatment for our
patients. These include braces, appliances to correct
bite position and retainers. Along the way, we:
-
realign and correct the bite of those who can’t chew
well
-
straighten teeth that are crooked or have large gaps
-
reshape the face of those patients with an underbite
or overbite
We
accomplish these goals by using braces to apply control
over the individual teeth. Over time, we introduce
rubber bands into treatment; this influences certain
areas to move by using additional pressure. We
occasionally use outside implements to put influence on
a patient’s teeth and bones, like headgear. When
treatment is complete (the teeth are perfectly straight
and the bite is in harmony), we remove the braces.
That’s when we follow up with retainer, which keeps
teeth from returning to their original position. Each
retainer is worn for a certain number of hours each
day…and ensures the patient keeps a beautiful smile for
a lifetime!
What’s
the right age for Orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontics now focuses on patients of many ages.
-
Age
seven is the ideal time to have your child’s future
needs assessed at the first appointment.
-
Teens
make up the majority of our patients. As they begin
adolescence, a bigger emphasis is placed on
appearance than ever before. Having a beautiful
smile builds confidence, boosts self-esteem and
encourages teens to try new things. Being able to
smile and communicate without worry or embarrassment
is a huge relief - and a huge motivator - to teens
when contemplating the months spent in braces.
Incredible change and a gorgeous, confident smile
are the rewards of making this life-changing
commitment!
-
We
enthusiastically welcome adults into our world! It
takes determination and courage to change your
appearance later in life. We proudly offer
Invisalign™
and clear braces to our adult patients
who want to avoid the “metal mouth” stereotype often
associated with Orthodontics. We’re confident that
we can help our adult patients improve their looks
…and have a great experience at the same time.
Clearly,
there are no age limitations for patients who want to
have a great smile and be able to chew and swallow
easily. Dr. Johnson and her team can show you just how
easy it is to take the first steps toward having the
smile of your dreams. Call 901-386-5800 today to
schedule a complimentary exam for you or your child.
